MISSION REPORT - RESCUES - 01

07 OCTOBER 1944
First Lieutenant James F. Scott, pilot of "Daylight One One", while covering a B-24 strike on Zamboanga, received a radio message that a P-38 pilot was in trouble near the South shore of Salobaboe Island. Lieutenant Scott proceeded to the area and sighted a P-38 with one engine on fire and the other cutting on and off. The pilot, sighting the rescue ship, proceeded to the South shore of Salobaboe. Lieutenant Scott landed his ship off shore and waited for the pilot of the 38th Fighter Squadron to paddle out to him. The pilot was unhurt and was taken aboard at 1134 and returned to his base.
