19 NOVEMBER 1944
First Lieutenant Harry C. Remington Jr., pilot of "Daylight Two Three", departed Pitoe Strip at 0750 on a mission to search the Sangihe Island Group and the waters around them. At 0945 Lieutenant Remington sighted a man floating in a life raft at 03ï°52'N, 125°20'E, just East of Lipang Island. He landed, picked up the survivor, 1Lt Edwin C. Buchanan, 80th Fighter Squadron (P-38), 8th Fighter Group who was apparently in good condition. The rescue ship departed at 1005 and headed for home base. They arrived back at Pitoe Strip at 1210.
