MISSION REPORT - RESCUES - 01

19 NOVEMBER 1944
First Lieutenant Harry C. Remington Jr., pilot of "Daylight Two Three", departed Pitoe Strip at 0750 on a mission to search the Sangihe Island Group and the waters around them. At 0945 Lieutenant Remington sighted a man floating in a life raft at 03ï°52'N, 125°20'E, just East of Lipang Island. He landed, picked up the survivor, 1Lt Edwin C. Buchanan, 80th Fighter Squadron (P-38), 8th Fighter Group who was apparently in good condition. The rescue ship departed at 1005 and headed for home base. They arrived back at Pitoe Strip at 1210. Sighted 1 man in a single life raft.

0950:

Landed and picked up survivor, 1st Lt. Edwin C. Buchanan, 8th Fighter Gp, 80th Fighter Sq. (P-38) who was apparently in very good condition. The rescued man was sighted and rescued at 03�52'N, 125�20'E. East of Lipang Island.

1005:

 Took off for home base.

1210:

Landed at Pitoe strip.
