25 NOVEMBER 1944
On the night of 25 November 1944, the Squadron rescue ship, 44-33875 was destroyed, the result of a direct bomb hit during an air raid by Japanese attack aircraft. The aircraft was being "run up" and the crew was onboard when the air raid began. Sgt Guy Allbright and others, signaling frantically, alerted the crew and they were able to escape the aircraft before the bomb hit. His quick thinking saved the lives of the crew and reflect great credit upon himself and the Army Air Force.
