- Captain Lloyd R.
"Chief" Humphreys, pilot
of "Playmate Four Two", departed Morotai at 0433 on a special mission along the
Mindanao coast line and in the area around Tolong Point on Negros. At 0905 he arrived at
Sindangan Bay and searched without results for five survivors reported to have been
sighted. He continued the search on North to Blanca Point, then on to Tolong, Negros. At
1145, Captain Humphreys landed at Tolong and picked up
Sergeamt R.L. Miller and six Japanese
prisoners who had been captured by the Filipinos.
Sergeant Miller was the last man of a B-24
crew to be rescued that had gone down early in November. Captain Humphreys unloaded his
supplies of food and medicine and departed for his base, arriving at 1845.
