release and the "GHD" (Guy H. Drewry) inspector's stamp. Not below the magazine release is
the "P" proof mark that should match the one on top of the slide in front of
the rear sight. This gun has the correct checkered slide stop and the Colt
"verified proof" (VP inside a triangle) stamped on the left front of the
trigger guard. The "1" above it is one of the Colt final inspection marks,
C-1937-45. It is stamped above the "VP" AFTER FINISH. (Click HERE to
