M-1942 canteen in enameled metal made in two parts with a horizontal solder
seam. The plastic cap is the first type, serrated from top to bottom. (this
example has the 2nd style cap with a
strengthening rim at the bottom) This type of canteen was only made in 1942
to save on aluminum. This example is the second type with a vertical solder
seam. The bottom is marked with U.S. Vollrath - 1942.
