06 JULY 1945
First Lieutenant Robert T. "Bob" Davis, pilot of "Playmate Three Six", took off from Palawan at 0735 to cover strikes on Balikpapan, Borneo. At 1225 Lieutenant Davis sighted three unidentified vessels heading for the Celebes. He arrived at his orbit point at 1240 and after circling for fifty minutes, departed for home. At 1440 Lieutenant Davis received a message to pick up a downed P-38 pilot at Tarakan. He landed and picked up the survivor, Lieutenant Charles R. Turner, 0-779682, 339th Fighter Squadron, 347th Fighter Group. He was delivered to Palawan at 1950.
