MISSION REPORT - RESCUES - 01

18 JULY 1945
Second Lieutenant Jay K. Brockett, pilot of "Playmate Seven One", was returning to base after covering a strike on Davao Gulf when at 1533 he received a message stating that a dinghy had been sighted in Basilian Strait and to immediately investigate. Lieutenant Brockett sighted the raft with one man aboard at 1543. The survivor, 2nd Lt. J. Downey, member of Marine Air Group 12, crashed at 1533 hours at 6°50'N, 121°55'E, while returning from a strike on Davao. He was returned to Zamboanga at 1615. [Photo 1][Photo 2][Photo 3]
