First  Lieutenant Henry "Hugh" Pennington, pilot of "Daylight One Four", departed Middleburg Island at 0745 to cover strikes on Namlea and Ambon on the Southern coast of Ceram. Fighter cover was provided. The rendezvous point was five miles East of Namlea at the entrance of Ambonia Bay. The rescue plane departed the area at 1130 and proceeded on its other mission of searching in the vicinity of Manipa Island until 1440, when it started its return flight.
