25 MARCH 1945
First Lieutenant Richard K. Knowlton, pilot of "Playmate Four Two", departed Morotai at 1140 for Kaoe Bay. At 1215, he sighted a survivor floating in his life raft just off Lolabata at 01°15'E, 12°05'N. Lieutenant Knowlton landed on a calm sea and effected the rescue of Staff Sergeant Robert A. Cox, 75 Squadron, 735 Group, RAAF. The pilot was in good condition and stated that he was forced to ditch his plane when his motor cut out. He was returned to Morotai at 1520.
