26 SEPTEMBER 1944 - First Lieutenant Frederick F. Hoss evacuated two wounded men and
one sick Lieutenant from Warsaw Bay,
Biak Island at 1400.
The men were transferred from a landing craft in the open sea to his ship in a 25 to 30
knot wind. The landing and take-off in the rough seas was a tribute to the skill of
Lieutenant Hoss. The men were transferred from the barge to the plane by rubber life raft
and taken to the 92nd General Hospital on
Owi
