- First Lieutenant
Henry C. "Harry" Remington, pilot of
"Daylight One Two", while patrolling
in the vicinity of
Noemfoor received a radio message at 1030 that a pilot had
been forced down in
Geelvink Bay. Lieutenant Remington proceeded to the coordinates
given and located a man down in the sea just off shore. He landed near the survivor, took
him aboard his plane and returned him to Noemfoor. The rescued Aussie pilot was flying a
P-40 fighter which was damaged by enemy fire while strafing enemy barges on the shore of
Geelvink Bay. The pilot was unhurt and stated "Its jolly good to see you, old
chap".
